Video Live & Mapping

I Love Video

It’s a field that I deal with a lot, especially when it comes to video installations and projection mapping. So I am always thrilled to receive inquiries for challenging projects. Here are some examples.
What is it Projection Mapping?
It's a technique of turning objects into a video display surface. These objects may be buildings, theatrical stages or small indoor objects. By using a specialised software, a two or three-dimensional object is spatially mapped in the virtual program which mimics the real environment it is to be projected on. This technique is used to add extra dimensions, optical illusions, and notions of movement onto previously static objects.

Aka Cyril Vouilloz

Cyril Vouilloz aka Rylsee

Cyril is a visual artist from Switzerland currently based in Berlin. With a background in typography, design and mural painting, he is obsessed with words and hand-drawn type compositions. His art has been exhibited internationally in places such as U.S.A, Switzerland, France, Germany, England, Spain and Israel.

Cyril asked me if I would be interested in a collaborating on his solo show ‘Other Inbox’ at the Urban Spree Gallery, Berlin. Of course! I answered.
Cyril showed me sketches and ideas for some of the sculptures he was planning on exhibiting. We then decided to focus on one of his works consisting of nine wooden panels with different letters.

Cyril gave me a free hand and told me to react intuitively to the work. Since I know Cyril and his style, it was clear to me that I want to bring life through movement to the static wooden panels, by projecting a video with a VHS Glitch Effects on the panels.

Aka Hiroyasu Tsuri

Hiroyasu is a Japanese artist based in Berlin, known for his painting, sculpture, installation, and large scale public murals. He creates a unique combination of elements derived from nature, animals, abstract shapes and colors to create his art. Hiroyasu has received international recognition for his exhibitions in galleries and museums worldwide, as well as his striking large-scale public murals.

Our collaboration was done as part of a video festival held at Urban Spree Berlin. The mural was painted on a 15 meter long x 8 meter high wall facing the main street. After Hiro had finished painting the mural, we projected a video animation I made using elements from his painting.
